Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Lucid is a "modular system." What’s that mean?
A:
Simply put, Lucid is like a set of plastic building blocks. You can take one part off or add another one on however you want, and the product still works. Decide for yourself whether or not you want races, classes, epic battles involving whole armies, finite combat with only a handful of opponents.

Q: Why is Lucid’s modular nature important?
A:
Versatility is where Lucid really shines. From super powered space aliens, to an entire campaign where your players are dust mites trying to make their way across the living room, if you can imagine it, Lucid can do it. We at PtME Productions are constantly upgrading the system, adding new modules and fine tuning existing rules to give you, the game master and player alike, the smoothest, fullest experience to share with your friends.

Q: So what, besides being "modular," makes Lucid special?
A:
A lot of other pen-and-paper games only focus on one of the two primary aspects of the table top gaming experience. They either over-emphasize combat - to the exclusion of story and the role play element as a whole - or focus almost exclusively on plot, and every fight gets bogged down and clumsy. The Lucid Gaming system is designed to balance these two, allowing for a campaign where story can be just as cleanly implemented as cutting down a dragon or shooting a star-fighter out of orbit.

Q: Are there plans for any games other than the Dreaming?
A:
PtME Productions has plans for dozens of games that all take advantage of Lucid in numerous unique ways. We plan to straddle the genres and even invent some of our own with coming works. Our plan is to release a whole new setting every year, but in addition we have countless smaller projects, called “supplement,” that will be released on a much more frequent basis.

Q: What is a “supplement” exactly?
A:
A supplement is a smaller scale project that PtME productions introduces every so often. They aren’t on a strict schedule like our major settings, but offer new and innovative examples of the potential to be found in Lucid. You can expect to see a Lucid supplement every six months or so.

Q: Why does the online store only sell digital copies?
A:
Printing out actual copies of our products costs a lot of money. So, we at PtME have decided to cut down on production costs for the time being by selling our games exclusively in the form of digital books. In doing so, we pass considerable savings onto you - to the tune of $10-15 a book - and make it possible for you to enjoy as many as three of our games for the same price as one from our contemporaries.

Q: Will you ever sell hard copies?
A:
PtME productions has plans to sell hard copies of the vast majority of its games in the future. In fact, we already sell hard copies at the conventions we attend, and if you stop by our booth, we’ll be happy to sell you one. For information on what conventions PtME representatives will be attending in the near future, check the front page.

Tribute will be used to fund furture and very, very near-term projects that will allow us to expand our worlds, and bring others into the land of hard copies. First on our agenda: a series of comic books centered around Miracle Girl and her place in Legacy Crossing.

Contributing has its perks. They are not all finalized yet, but ideas include signed first editions, spots in alpha tests of new games, invitations to canon games (whereby YOUR character can join the ranks of Chapel-One, Eldor, and other, as-of-yet unnamed characters-to-come), and a few other ideas we've got rolling around.

For more information on Tribute, see jdFritz's forum post here.
